Ragi Dosa (Finger Millet Dosa)

HI..  Back after quite a long break.  I know, I should have posted a couple of more recipes by now.  Had been travelling quite a bit.   So back again with a healthy breakfast recipe today.  Ragi dosa, a healthy option to begin the day with.  This dosa is a combination of ragi and urad dal.
The wonderful part of this dosa is that, there is no fermentation needed.  You can either grind it the previous day or it can be ground just before making. Let’s see how to make this Dosa.
YIELD: 12-15 DOSAS
INGREDIENTS:
Urad dal (black gram dal) – ½ cup
Ragi flour                - 1 ½ cup
Salt                      - 1 tsp
Water to grind            - ½ cup + ½ cup
METHOD:
1.  Wash the urad dal well and soak it for 4-5 hours.
2.  Grind the urad with water to a smooth batter.
3.  Remove it in the vessel.  Add ragi flour and mix well with hand. Mix it in a way where there are no lumps and a smooth batter is formed. Add the other half of water while mixing. (if you feel the batter is too thick.  Add little more water to it).  It should be of ribbon consistency. (Easily pourable)
4.  Add salt and mix again.  The dosa can be made immediately or you could keep it in the fridge to make it for your breakfast next day.
5.  Pour a ladle full of batter on a hot griddle and leave some oil at the sides.  Cover it with a lid to cook for a min or two. Once done, flip on the other side and cook for another min.(This should be done on a medium flame)
6.  Hot dosas are ready to serve.  Serve it with a coconut chutney.
NOTES:
  1. I served it with, coriander leaves coconut chutney, tempered with mustard seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves.
  2. Will post the chutney recipe soon.
  3. You could add finely chopped onions and green chillies to the dosa too.
  4.  I could not take step wise pictures.  Will surely try and upload other recipes with as much as pictures as possible :)
