Hi everyone. Back again after a break. Today’s recipe is a tea time snack called
‘mathri’. Which am sure everyone is
aware of. Made these after my sis-in-law
gave me the recipe. But I altered it
with a few ingredients here and there.
So here goes my version of this yummy evening snack. Oh!!! Did I say “evening”, you can pop them
whenever you feel like munching on them.
INGREDIENTS:
Rice flour
|
1 tbsp
(optional)
|
Maida
|
3 cups
|
Wheat flour
|
1 cup
|
Besan
|
1 cup
|
Oil
|
Just a little
less than 1 cup
|
Kasuri methi
|
¼ cup
|
Chilli powder
|
1 heaped tsp
|
Turmeric
|
¼ tsp
|
Salt
|
2 tsp or as per
taste
|
Sugar
|
½ tsp
|
Sesame seeds
|
1/8 cup
|
METHOD:
1.
Sieve the flours together and keep aside.
2. Mix together the kasuri methi, salt, sugar,
turmeric powder, chilli powder and sesame seeds and oil. Keep this for 15 mins.
3. Mix together the kasuri methi mixture with the
flour and knead with little water. Around
½ to ¾ cup of water should do. Knead
this into a hard dough(like we make for puris)
4.
Cover and let the dough rest for half an hour.
5. Make pedas out of the dough and roll them like
we do for chappatis.
6. You could use a katori to make round shapes, or
use any cookie cutter to cut them into shapes.
(like the one I’ve used)
7.
Heat oil and slowly drop the mathri’s into the
hot oil. Fry them on low medium flame,
till golden brown. Drain them on a
kitchen towel/tissue
8.
Let them cool.
Store them in and air tight container.
Stays fresh for a week.
